Athanasia TsibouklisListing Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (4 Votes) Having just completed my law degree at Queen Mary (QM), University of London, and having been accepted for an LPC at the College of Law, I am keen to pursue a career as a solicitor. Throughout my degree, I have developed skills that I consider valuable for my development as a lawyer. In my final year, I worked as a student volunteer at the QM Legal Advice Centre. By independently researching cases and summarising the points of law in a manner which is accessible to clients, I gained first-hand experience on the value of good communication skills. Meeting with clients has helped to improve my confidence, organisation skills, and professionalism. At my vacation placement with Harris & co solicitors, I was able to confirm my enthusiasm for working in a legal environment and for advising clients on their cases. Towards the end of the placement, I was asked to research and summarise the points of law for a legal aid case involving a landlord’s refusal to assign our client’s lease. This gave me the first practical experience regarding the need to comply with time limits when working towards a professional goal. I consider myself to be a hard working and responsible person, who is a team player and who listens to advice but at the same time has the capability to pursue complex problems with imagination and commitment. Furthermore, I believe that I possess the qualities of professionalism, integrity, and respect for confidentiality that are considered prerequisite to a lawyer
