I wouldnt have known this but for my legal experience and I have acquired enough to know that a training contract is my next step. I have worked in a variety of legal environments and realised that the career is not just about the academic but also the peripheral skills to being a modern solicitor. I refer to marketing and communication skills. I believe I have these in abundance and understand that the law does not exist in isolation. It is important to advise in a context appropriate to the audience to enable an informed decision to be made. Doing this and meeting a wide range of clients is attractive to me. The Law is omnipresent, affecting and regulating us all. For this reason it is constantly changing and evolving in response to society and even pre-empting societal changes. I find this most interesting. Coupled with the fact that law has so many facets it is not a restrictive career. I would like to think that I am malleable as a person and receptive to change. The legal career suits me in this respect. I believe I will complement and enhance any firm. I strive for excellence through effective time management and initiative. My linguistic skills have certainly translated well into the legal profession and should prove useful under the increasing impact of European legislation and diversity of British culture
